Thomas, Clayton N.
, 96, formerly of New Danville, PA died January 29, 2014 at the Mennonite Home, Lancaster. Born October 29, 1917 in New Danville, PA to Jacob and Mary (Harnish) Thomas.He was married to Verna G. (Hess) Thomas. Verna died in 1986. He was an active member of the New Danville Mennonite Church where he taught Sunday School for many years. He was also a lifetime member of the New Danville Fire Dept. for over 50 active years of membership.

Survived by his two children, Clyde W. Thomas, husband of Cheryl and James R. "JR" Thomas, husband of Martha, both of Lancaster; seven grandchildren: Dwayne, Trina, Kimberly, Jeff, Rodney, Daffne and Bryan and 19 great grandchildren, Ryan, Justin, Jared, Cody, Danyella, Kenny, Justin, Michael, Kira, Kyle, Hannah, Caroline, Shannon, Mercedes, Holly, Sean, Sarah, Rachel and Emma.

Funeral Service was February 4, 2014 at the New Danville Mennonite Church, Lancaster, PA 17603. Interment was in the adjoining church cemetery.

Thomas, Coevel W
., 88, of Telford, PA died March 20, 2014. He was born February 24, 1926 at Davidsville, PA to Elmer and Elda (Livingston) Thomas. He was married to Marie Miller, who is deceased.

Surviving are children, David Jr. & Karen Loker, Lois Thomas, and Bruce & Joy Thomas; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and siblings, Nada, Maynard, Paul, Velma, and Mary.

A brother, Kermit preceded him in death.

Memorial services were held March 23, 2014 at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church, Blooming Glen, PA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Thomas, Elvalou "Lou" Parker

Aug. 5, 1936 - Dec. 28, 2014

GOSHEN - Elvalou "Lou" Thomas, 78, peacefully passed away at 9:45 a.m. Sunday morning, Dec. 28, in her home surrounded by family and loved ones after a 35-month battle with cancer.

Lou was born Aug. 5, 1936, in Elyria, Ohio, to Charles and Merle (Mason) Parker.

Preceding her in death were her parents, sister Helen Smith, brother Ross (Bud) Parker and infant daughter Vicki Lynn.

Lou married Paul H. Thomas on June 14, 1958.

He survives with three sons, Steve (Linda) Thomas, Tim (Nitza) Thomas and Philip (Ana) Thomas; seven grandchildren; and two stepgrandsons.

Lou received an R.N. degree from Temple University School of Nursing in 1958.

She worked in the Goshen and Elkhart hospitals. For several years she did private-duty nursing. She retired from Bristol Street Pediatrics in 1996.

She was a very loving dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed volunteering, knitting, crocheting, baking, gardening and going to the activities of her grandchildren, whom she loved very much. She also loved to travel.

Her body was donated to Indiana University research program.

Visitation times will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, with pastor Wes Bontreger officiating. There will be visitation for an hour prior to the memorial service.

Memorial contributions may be given to Center for Healing and Hope and Pathways Retreat.

Tony, Katherine Ruth Fuquay, 56, of Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN died August 12, 2014 at Elkhart, IN. She was born November 22,, 1957 at Evansville, IN to Melvin and Ruth (Montgomery) Fuquay. On May 1, 1982 she was married to Steve Tony, who was born October 28, 1952 and survives.

Surviving are a daughter, Emily, two brothers, Gary (Jan) Fuquay; and Dan (Janet) Fuquay; and a sister, Gail Teller.

Memorial services were held August 18, 2014 at College Mennonite Church, Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN with burial in Violett Cemetery, Goshen, IN.

Tony, Katherine Fuquay
Nov. 22, 1957 - Aug. 12, 2014

GOSHEN - Katherine "Kathy" Tony, 56, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, after a sudden illness.

She was born Nov. 22, 1957, in Evansville, the fourth child of Melvin and Ruth (Montgomery) Fuquay.

Kathy grew up in Evansville and graduated from Reitz High School. She attended Indiana State University.

In 1980, Kathy moved to Elkhart and was employed by ADEC. It was there that she met her husband, Steve. Kathy and Steve were married May 1, 1982. In 1998, their daughter, Emily, joined the family. They moved to Goshen in 1999.

A lifelong advocate for people with disabilities, Kathy continued to work for ADEC until her death.

She was very active in the community, her family life and supporting the interests and activities of her daughter. Kathy enjoyed gardening and sewing and was a member of the Eastern Star.

Kathy is survived by Steve and Emily; her brothers, Gary (Jan) Fuquay of Sun City West, Ariz., and Dan (Janet) Fuquay of Evansville; a sister, Gail Teller of Evansville; and her nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, in the Gathering Room at College Mennonite Church, 1900 S. Main St., Goshen. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at the church. Pastors Marty Lehman and Pamela Yoder will officiate.

Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery in Goshen.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the ADEC Endowment Fund.

SYRACUSE - Elizabeth Ellen Troyer, 81, of Syracuse, died at 10:44 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.

She was born Jan. 26, 1932, in Nappanee, to Daniel and Fannie (Miller) Miller.

On Oct. 22, 1955, she married Andy E. Mast. He died June 21, 1993. On March 25, 1995, she married Raymond T. Troyer. He died March 12, 1998.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda (Dexter) Prough of Howe and Susan (Shane) Slabaugh of Syracuse; a son, Wilbur Dean (Teresa) Mast of Howe; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Clara Kemp, Edna (Marvin) Miller and Wilma (Henry) Yoder, all of Nappanee; and a brother, Marvin (Fannie Mae) Miller of Nappanee.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, at Emma Mennonite Church, 1900 S. 600 W., Topeka. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, at the church, with Pastors Gene Hartman and Derrick Ramer officiating. Burial will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana.

Memorials may be given to Emma Mennonite Church.

Troyer, Erma Louise Goodman

Dec. 9, 1921 - Nov. 17, 2014

GOSHEN - Erma Louise Goodman Troyer, 92, of Goshen, died Monday, Nov. 17, at Courtyard Nursing Home.

Erma was born Dec. 9, 1921, to Harry and Emma S. (Kehr) Goodman in Goshen.

On March 12, 1944, she married Levi S. Troyer in Elkhart. He preceded her in death in 1964.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Lemmon (Joe) of Goshen and Judy Troyer of Fort Wayne; grandsons Jeff Lemmon (Roxanne) of Elkhart and Tony Lemmon (Debbie) of Fort Wayne; four great-grandchildren; three great-step-grandchildren; four great-great-step-grandchildren; sisters Florence Hower of Goshen and Donnabelle Fletcher (Lamar) of Goshen; brother Robert Goodman (Roberta) of Camarillo, Calif.; and sisters-in-law June Goodman of Goshen, Polly Goodman of Alahambra, Calif., Savilla Handrich of Dalton, Ohio, and Wilma Bontrager (Lyle) of Fairview, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Jasper V. Goodman, Mary E. Goodman, Claire Mathews (Ernest), Walter LeRoy Goodman (Phyllis), Ruth Locke, Imogene Creakbaum, Edward Goodman and Harold Goodman.

Erma was a member of Prairie Street Mennonite Church and was baptized at Studebaker Park in 1934.

Before marriage she worked at Boris Smoler and Sons in the catalog department until 1944. In 1949, she began employment at Whitehall Laboratories in quality control, until retiring in 1985. She was a volunteer at Elkhart General Hospital.

Erma enjoyed bowling with the Jo-Cur Jills, traveling, bingo and photography.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at Prairie Street Mennonite Church, with Pastor Frances Ringenberg officiating. Burial will follow in Rice Cemetery.

Troyer, Lloyd Dalton
, 79, of Mio, Oscoda Co., MI died January 18, 2014 at Fairview, Oscoda Co., MI.

He was born November 20, 1934 at Mio to Roman and Lunette (Hershberger) Troyer. Roman was born January 13, 1901 and died February 12, 1965.
Lunette was born May 25, 1904 and died December 21, 1968.

On October 18, 1957 he was married to Katie C. Miller, who was born March 12, 1932 and survives.

Surviving are children, Lois Troyer; Lyle (Syrena Carley) Troyer; Lorna Troyer; and Lunette (Ray) Caples; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and two brothers, Kenneth (Joan) Troyer and Mel (Dorothy) Troyer.

A sister, Phyllis Arlene Banks preceded him in death.

Memorial services were held January 22, 2014 at Fairview Mennonite Church, Fairview, MI with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, MI.

Troyer, Noah R.
, 87, of Fredericksburg, OH died January 8, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Wayne Co., Ohio June 4, 1926 to Rudy and Amanda (Otto) Troyer and had lived all of his married life in Holmes County. He was a faithful member of Bethel Fellowship near Berlin, Ohio. He also served almost 2 years in Civil Public Services in 1945. His wife of 34 years, the former Nancy Sommers. His first wife, the late Clara J. Miller, died in 1977.

Survivieed by his wife Nancy and his children, Edna (Jim Dickerson), Mary Ann (Homer Miller) and Amanda (Dennis Mullet), all of Millersburg, Anna (Allen Miller) of Ligonier, IN, Alma of the home, Norman (Esther) of Millersburg and Paul (Michelle) of Fredericksburg; 17 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and a brother, Dan Troyer of Holmesville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Nancy and 6 brothers, Jonas, Eli, Christ, Milton, Jacob and Menno; and 4 sisters, Anna, Lydia, Katie and Lizzie.

Funeral service was January 11, 2014 at the Gospel Haven Church in Benton, Ohio with Pastor Mark Yoder officiating. Burial will be in the Shalom Cemetery near Fredericksburg, Ohio.

Troyer, Orpha S. Thomas

Jan. 16, 1928 - July 29, 2014

GOSHEN - Orpha S. Troyer, 86, formerly of Middlebury, died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, at home.

She was born Jan. 16, 1928, in Elkhart County to the late Samuel and Lizzie (Yoder) Thomas.

On Aug. 17, 1947, in Elkhart County she married Lester C. Troyer. He died Feb. 23, 2002.

Surviving are her children, Gloria (Morris) Yoder, LaMar (Dorothy) Troyer and Marvin (Margaret) Troyer of Goshen; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and siblings Edna Thomas of Goshen, Vernon (Dorothy) Thomas of Middlebury and Orval Thomas.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Verda Troyer; granddaughter Denise Yoder; and siblings Henry, Ralph and Melvin Thomas and Diana Mast, Ella Thomas and Irene Yoder.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Mount Joy Mennonite Church in Goshen. Services will be conducted by Ben Shirk, of the church, and her sons, LaMar and Marvin Troyer. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery.

Unger, Dorothy J. Keller
, 85, of Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN, died January 15, 2014 at the same place. She was born August 9, 1928 at Eureka, Woodford Co., IL to Emil and Anna (Roth) Keller. In 1956 she was married to George S. Unger, who died in 2010.

Surviving are a son, Ben (Debra) Unger, and two sisters, Carol Jones, and Joanne Rivera.

Memorial services were held January 19, 2014 at College Mennonite Church, Goshen, IN with burial in Pleasant View Mennonite Cemetery, Goshen, IN.

Unruh, Douglas LaMonte
, 59, of Perryton, Texas died March 27, 2014 at Amarillo, Texas.

He was born August 4, 1954 at Denver, Colorado to Eli Winfred and Inez Marjorie (Holdeman) Unruh. Eli was born March 19, 1924 and died July 7 21, 1999. Inez was born November 9, 1920 and died May 18, 2007.

On August 6, 1977 at Delta, Ohio he was married to Patsy Ann King, who was born August 11, 1955 and survives.

Surviving are children, Monte Lee Unruh and wife Jana Schroeder Unruh; Lisa Marie Unruh Beun and husband Kyle Benjamin Beun; and CJ (Catherine Jade) Unruh Byler and husband William Henry Byler II; four grandchildren, and siblings, Janet Eileen Unruh Stutzman and husband Dallas Stutzman; Donice Gail Unruh Manos and husband John Manos; Lowell Kent Unruh and wife Pamela Gerig Unruh.

Memorial services were held April 1, 2014 at Perryton Mennonite Church, Perryton, Ochiltree Co., Texas with burial in Ochiltree Cemetery, Perryton, Texas.

Vanpelt, Luella Falb


COLUMBIANA- Luella Mae Vanpelt, 72, of Columbiana, passed away Tuesday morning, February 4, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Luella was born on August 7, 1941 in Orrville, a daughter of Levi and Elizabeth (Lehman) Falb.

She attended North Lima High School and was a lifelong member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church.

She was a homemaker. Luella loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Luella leaves to cherish her precious memories her husband, Lloyd, whom she married June 27, 1964; three daughters, Laura Mae Vanpelt of Berlin, Lucille (Robin) Martin of Snover, Mich., and Louise (John) Steiner of Columbiana; three sons, Lloyd Jr. (Reba) of Columbiana, Leonard (Della) of North Lima, and Leon (Gayle) of Columbiana; two brothers, Maynard (Norma) and Merlin (Edith) Falb, both of Columbiana; 23 grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, where the church ministry will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana and one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church.

Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery.

SHILOH: Paul VanPelt, age 34, of Shiloh, Ohio passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014 in Chatfield, Ohio.

He was born July 7, 1980 in Salem, Ohio. He is a member of the Woodlawn Mennonite Church, Greenwich, Ohio. He was employed at Walnut Hill Feeds in Tiro, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Rosanne (Fox) VanPelt; three children, Lavern, Darnell and Nicole VanPelt, all at home; father, Paul Ivan VanPelt; two sisters, Regina (David) Steiner of Salem and Crystal VanPelt of New Holland, PA; five brothers, Kevin (Rosemarie) VanPelt of Columbiana, OH, Anthony VanPelt of Columbiana, OH, Matthew (Susan) VanPelt of Shelby, OH, Richard VanPelt of Writsville, PA, and Brandon VanPelt of Burkesville, KY; numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Good) VanPelt; step-mother, Elinor (Hostetler) VanPelt; and nephew, Brian Steiner.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the Woodlawn Mennonite Church on Route 13, Greenwich, Ohio, where the funeral service will be Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. The burial will be at the Woodlawn Mennonite Cemetery, Greenwich, Ohio.
